Contest Prep – Week 5

So its been five complete weeks since I have started cutting. I'm glad I started way early for my cut because it gave me leeway to make mistakes ... like I did this week!  Before I got into all the mistakes I made, let me reference all the other weeks progress reports: : What/how much I am eating week 0 week 1 progress week 2 progress week 3 progress week 4 progress OK, you know how some people really get into video games and when they are playing them, they forget to eat and sleep because they get so involved?...

How Many Scoops Protein Should I Take?

How Many Scoops Protein Should I Take? Lets look at the TWO reasons that cause me to epic pillow scream each time this question is asked.  First, what the hell is a "scoop" and when did it become some international measurement unit??   The "scoop" provided in that tub of protein powder can contain anywhere between 10 grams protein and 50 grams protein.  Besides, it is IMPOSSIBLE to answer the "how many scoops" question without knowing all the details! how much do you weigh? how much weight lifting do you do? what are all your other protein sources during the...

Meal Planner Survey

You know I love my fitness tools! There are a LOT of meal planning apps and software out there but none is specifically targeted to bodybuilders, athletes, and those who workout hard with weights. Most of the meal planners are targeted to the general public, not the much more demanding needs of an athlete. Which nutritional plans would YOU want to use when you were planning your meals? Create your free online surveys with SurveyMonkey , the world's leading questionnaire tool.

Contest Prep – Week 4

So its been four complete weeks since I have started cutting. Since I practice what I preach, I started early enough that I could do a slow, gradual cut and avoid losing muscle mass ... and its paid off!!! I have also practice what I preach and have taken VERY careful and comprehensive measurements so that I know exactly what is going on - lets look at why this is so important! For reference: What/how much I am eating week 0 week 1 progress week 2 progress week 3 progress Most people consider weighing themselves as a measure of progress....

Humorous Toyota Prius

As you know, I am not a big fan of the Toyota Prius (read why) but this car had me laughing for weeks!  A great sense of humor goes a long way!  Some people get really frustrated being behind a Prius driver whose goal is to eek out their maximum fuel economy by merging onto the freeway at 35mph and then slowly accelerating over the next 5 minutes up to 55mph but a great sense of humor goes a long way!  This decal does wonders for calming people down who are in a rush with a funny reminder that the Prius...

Why America is fat, bacon wrapped pizza

Poor Americans have suffered long enough with dry, hard crust on their pizza!  We deserve a moist, tasty crust!  Pizza loaded with pesticide tainted, highly processed cheese-food and empty carbs from nutrition-less enriched bleached flour isn't bad enough, Little Caesars has to wrap the crust in nitrate soaked bacon to get people to eat the crust.  Its easy to place the blame on Little Caesars for offering such a nutritional atomic bomb but really, its not their fault.  They only offer this garbage because its what the American public wants. We wring our hands in agony - what to do about...

Contest Prep, Week 3

So far I have only taken photos in the bad lighting of my pool locker room. As we all know from my article on how to take a good selfie, the front lighting in that locker room is not really that flattering so I decided that at week 3 I should take some photos in good lighting also. For reference: week 0 week 1 progress week 2 progress If you remember, at the end of week 2 I was concerned that I was losing fat too quickly but decided to hold my course because I was suspecting that the rapid...

Why low carb is unhealthy

I am a lot more excited about low carb lifestyle than I used to be because of the experience of some really sharp individuals at Sweat4health and also my personal experience. I will be doing some articles on it but the graphic below pretty much sums up why "low carb" as most Americans know it is so unhealthy. Its not low carb in itself that is unhealthy but the way that most people go about it. When you look at it from a health minded perspective, its a whole different story. The salad on the right was what I ate...
