Scooby's Home Bodybuilding Workouts The "Bulking and Cutting" Myth |
Eat Big to Get Big?
In the muscle magazines you always hear about 'bulking' up then 'cutting' down before a contest, should you do this too? NO! Do you have to eat a lot to gain muscle? NO! Putting your body thru this ordeal is fine if you are a competitive bodybuilder using steroids but it has no place whatsoever in natural bodybuilding. The reason the pros 'bulk' is that because of the steroids they are not only retaining water but their appetite is increased significantly so they eat like pigs. At the end of their cycle they have gained lots of muscle mass but lots of fat too so they then have to go on a very strict diet to lose that 30lbs of fat for the contest. Wild weight swings like this can't be good for your body. There is no reason at all that you cant gain muscle as you lose body fat with good nutrition, weightlifting and cardio. It is much easier (and healthier) to keep your body fat stable and low than it is to pig out for a few months and then have to diet for 3 months to get all the fat back off. Why not be ripped all the time rather than just one month a year????? It's easier, better for your body and it looks better.
