Fuel System

Big trouble with the entire fuel system, it was designed in the 90's when fuel didnt have ethanol.  It is getting very difficult (and expensive) to find fuel without ethanol and the problem is that many of the components in this fuel system are not ethanol proof.  The fiberglass that the tanks are made of is dissolved by ethanol, the MIL spec 6000 rubber hoses used to connect the tanks to the engine are dissolved by the ethanol.  Not sure what I'm going to do about this yet.

fuel is stored in a 13 gallon tank in each wing root for a total of 26 gallons
The fuel level is monitored visually by the sighting tube shown here
The fuel flows out of the bottom of the fiberglass tank down to the 1 gallon header tank
where it enters the tank from the nipple on the left and right.  Air is vented up thru the center nipple
Fuel level in the header tank is monitored by the float switch in the upper right.  Gas flows out the elbow on the bottom of the tank
and flows to a shutoff valve on the center console.
here is the underside of the valve where it flows forward to the firewall.
