So, folks, here's a premiere: Two videos by me, where I explain how you start running, because this is a question we've seen here a good number of times. These are my first videos ever, so please be kind with me
There's unfortunately quite a bit of wind noise in the second video. To make up for it I outlined what I say in the video's description.

Great videos! I found the first very useful, if I run for too long on asphalt/paved road, the inside of my ankle will start to hurt (right above that ball). I am going to Fitness First today to get some shoes that contour to my running style, and stick to dirt/grass surfaces. Thanks for the tips!

Nice video! The only problem I see (or actually, hear) is the wind lol... This place seems to be nice to have a little jogging too

Thanks for the kind words, guys! Yeah, those gardens are huge! Calling them "gardens" is an understatement in itself; you could probably run a full length marathon there without crossing the same point twice

I watched the second vid and I really love the fact you took time to help other people with this.I still actually see people stretch before they start running in the park. : /
I think you should do it on a less windy day tho ;P

good tips! I actually didn't know about the cold muscle stretching danger. I've ran on a treadmill many times with no problem, but then I tried running on a dirt path, and I couldn't run for more than a minute straight! It's good to know that that's a normal problem people have.

These were very helpful, I did not know about the different shoes needed for different surfaces. And the places the videos were shot were very beautiful, where are they?

Hey, great videos Evilcyber My mistake is that I've been always running without warming up. One time I even felt sick after short (100m.) distance fast running..

I always start out quick, otherwise I hardly can get warm. I also believe that if you get faint when you stop is that actually that you stop because you get faint. You get faint when there is not enough oxygen going into your brain. When most of the oxygen got sucked up by the muscle. And even when we stop, our heart still needs to keep going to supply oxygen to the muscle to get rid of the lactic acid. The process can take quite a bit of time though, so the heart will slow down over time. If your heart cannot take the pressure when you stop, you should not be able to take the pressure when you run as well.
"The problem, says Hirofumi Tanaka, an exercise physiologist at the University of Texas, Austin, is that there is pretty much no science behind the cool-down advice. "
So just stop if you are ready to stop or really need to stop.

Nice vids, especially the first one. I recently bought a new pair of running shoes at a store that specializes in them. I'll be buying my shoes from them from now.
