Bent-over rows are not an isolation exercise, and they don't target lats only (more like for the entire upper and middle back, including the rear delts and the biceps, not to mention all the muscles which work isometrically). The third bad form example is a partial deadlift (similar to a rack pull), which works much more than just quads.

No, because increasing the angle between your torso and upper arms shifts the main workload from your lats to the rest of your upper back.

I should get a barbell. . . I've been using dumbbell for this B/O rows & that plateau thing strikes me. SCOOBY is right. . . pull-up is the king of all back (lats) exercises, no substitutes. I don't have the strength to do the pull-up anymore. . . last time I did that was 3 years ago, I've been relying on B/O rows 'coz it makes me easier to train my back but I was wrong. . . easy way won't give a GOOD result (BEST result I should say) without sacrificing a good form & proper nutrition.
