should you be feeling exhausted after each workout? i stop lifting after i get to a certain point where i cannot lift anymore using proper form. but afterwards i don't feel that tired or exhausted like i'm sure most of you do. is my lifting ineffective? should i be lifting more? heres my basic workout plan (all of my sets are between 8-12 reps)

day 1:
back: 3 sets of dumbbell rows, (don't have a pull up bar yet, so for now all i do are rows)
biceps: 3 sets of concentration curls, 3 sets of standard curls

day 2:
cardio: 20-30 min.

day 3:
chest: scooby's chest workout for the beginner
triceps: 3 sets of kickbacks, 3 sets of overhead tricep extensions

day 4:
cardio: 20-30 min.

day 5:
shoulders: 3 sets of dumbbell press, 3 sets of side raises, 3 sets of reverse flys

etc... (its pretty much scooby's intermediate workout)

also, i'm a senior in high school so it's an extremely busy time for me, so on some days i won't be able to stick to my schedule. could this be a major problem? i haven't been seeing much muscle growth lately except in my shoulders... also i'm not working on abs yet until i get a rid of the bit of fat around my stomach area. i already have pretty good abs, just not too noticeable due to stomach fat.

additional info. : i'm 17 years old, 6'0 height, and i weigh about 175 lb.

You say you are doing good form, 8-12 reps per set to the point of exhaustion - that means you are giving it all you can and your workout should be effective.

But you should already exercise your abs. They will grow stronger despite being covered by fat. In the worst case you lose fat and still won't see them because they aren't developed.

yea thats the problem. i have trouble lifting the last few reps but after that my muscles dont feel exhausted. i dont feel very sore like i used to, and i havent seen much growth lately. so im just kind of worried if i'm not doing enough. i used to do 9 sets for each muscle until i realized that i was doing too much

oh and just to mention, usually on my 3rd sets i can only make it to about 5 reps, and then i  have to use my other arm to help for the last 3 reps. maybe i should go a little lighter? but i don't want to go lighter since i already don't feel exhausted afterwards...

umm, looks like you're not working enough, shouldn't you be doing more lats than biceps? should be doing like 12 DB rows and maybe 6-9 curls depending if you're tired or not.

And kickbacks are kinda pointless, just stick with skullcrushers and extensions.

Nice workout balance on shoulder but seems a bit low to me, i might be wrong.

*a lot of this is my opinion so don't take it as a hardcore fact that it must be done this way.

Yep, that was kinda missing from your first posting and I'm with Mike here.

And indeed, the weight might be a little too high. Aim for at least six reps on every set.

It's not very helpful to tell someone they are doing something wrong, without telling them how to do it right, eh? Smiley

I don't think so plateu only greatly effects Bodybuilders who have been at it for a long time. I think that everyone platues slightly every week if you do the same continues workout but it can be avoid with just slight change in red for different workouts you do.
