Read the label on the salsa jar. Try to find a brand that doesn't have added sugar.
You can also use celery and carrots to scoop salsa; and besides pitas, whole wheat tortillas would be good. As with the pitas, toast them in the oven to make them crispy.
Salsa and chips would make a good snack, but there's not much protein there. You could up the protein by stirring some nonfat cottage cheese into the salsa.

If you want cheap healthy snacks, you -can't- go past fruit and veg. A bag of carrots are very cheap and they're far better to snack on than chips and chocolate. Bananas are also fantastic and they have their own biodegradable wrapper! A stalk of celery is brilliant. Strawberries make great TV snacks, not to mention grapes (try to get some of the dark purple type.. I think they're called Isabella grapes.. wow).
Apples are also a staple snack in my house. I get some called Fuji apples and they're big, juicy and crisp. You almost need a bib to catch all the juice.

Can i add sum baked skinless chicken to the salsa? Of course! Try this... on an unbaked whole wheat tortilla... put chicken, salsa, cottage cheese, and lettuce. Roll up the tortilla and tuck the ends in so stuff doesn't leak out; and eat. Yummy! Experiment with different ingredients. If you don't have chicken, use canned black beans. If you don't have lettuce, use chopped cabbage.

Also you can try adding corn in addition to the beans, making it a south western type of salsa. The type of black beans I have like are Cuban style black beans- which are beans cooked with onions and green peppers: it gives it quite a kick.

Thanks But would i have to worry bout salt , sugar and fat level? Can i add sum baked skinless chicken to the salsa? Of course! Try some Snyder's whole wheat, low salt pretzel sticks. Only about $3 for a good sized bag, and you can feel a bit more filled up after munching on a few due to the grains.
They're great dipped in just about anything, including salsa!

try some protein pudding
1 cup of skim milk haft a package of fat free, sugar free jello instant pudding mix 1 scoop of whey protein
comes to about a 270 calorie snack, with 33 grams of protein (i use ON's whey) and about 10 grams of carb (mostly from the milk), and its fat free.
I usually have it with some cereal and it makes A HECK of a pre-workout meal

Celery is a great snack, and put a little peanut butter on it to get protein and flavor.
