Why do people hate oatmeal, I personally have never had any problem eating it, it taste good with ground cinammon and unsweetened apple sauce.

I always have a cheese ommelete ( made with kraft fat free cheddar, 1/2 cup egg whites and 1 whole egg) and a bowl of oatmeal for breakfast.

nom nom nom!

TF2?

About oatmeal, I love it. I grew up on it. My parents weren't even mid income when I was a kid. Grew up on oatmeal, onion and mustard sandwiches, ramen noodles, and of course, the good ol fashioned Baked Beans and Corn Bread.

This is how I get porridge oats into me without it being so painful. I could never get to like it, honestly.

You need one box of oats and one box of Muesli.

Mix the two together 95% oats and 5% a dash of Muesli.
DON'T cook anything, just throw in the milk as you would if eating a bowl of Muesli.
So it's kinda like watered down Muesli using oats.
Occasionally I'll have it with hot milk but if you do use extra milk as the oats will soak up the milk more readily and it will be dry and hard to swallow.

You can gradually reduce the amount of Muesli you add over time thereby reducing overall calories.

I eat this every morning and love it now. Don't mix protein power in with it it's disgusting I tried it. Drink that separately. I know it's not as good as plain ole porridge but it's a lot better than a bowl of high calorie muesli. Sometimes I'll eat this later in the day as well as one of my quick fix meals but not everyday.

You could of course just buy some raisins and nuts and add those to the mix but you'll fine a box of museli is a lot cheaper and more convenient than buying bits individually. Just try to buy the "no suger added" variety.

I hope someone finds this suggestion useful.

50g (10 tablespoons) of oatmeal, 25 g of whey protein powder (chose your favorite flavor; mine is chocolate) and 2.5 dl scalding, 2.6% fat milk (or less fat, but I just can't stand that kind, so I use this and it mixes very well with oats and whey). The hotter the milk is, the better the oats will taste; it soaks them better that way. Mix it and let it steam for a moment; the oats should soak up and become soft.

Man just see if you can ignore the taste. If you always pay attention to taste, you'll torture yourself every time. Just try to eat it because of what it does for you. It's a lot easier that way.

Back before I had my stomach tube, I went whole hog with oatmeal - milk, sliced apples, bananas, strawberries, raisins/craisins, blueberries, dried apricots, shredded coconut, walnuts, almonds, and carob chips.  I believe in it being a whole meal with all the food groups.

Same way I attacked yogurt - plain Balkan yogurt (my favorite before I became a vegan), sliced fruit, nuts, and cubed cheese.

I agree...I am not a fan of the taste of oatmeal. Some things I have found to make it better are toasted wheat germ, a spoon full of peanut butter or some fruit, usually I buy frozen blueberries and add it to the boiling water. It's not to bad but still don't love the taste...
