well you know what i meant -.- the deadlift is just plain ----a bad idea. all that you get with that opposed to any other leg workout (lower body wise) is working the lower back... which back extensions are way safer than deads.. ever hear someone say "i did back extensions and now i have to take some time off at the gym... i hope i can come back"..that's more something you hear from a guy who does deadlifts.. think before you lift

Well I want to strengthen the back especially when adding a little twist. I do not want to hurt my back again this year shovelling snow So any exercises that helps me make the snow do what I want it to do is go.

yea my back is pretty shitty its probally a combo of a bad bed and maybe from a previous lift injury that never went away, my posture is great and I dont slouch when I sit so that shouldnt be it. Seeing some exercises that WORK would be nice. I have tried a few and the problem hasnt changed. Im about to go see a masseuse and if that doesnt work then a physical therapist perhaps

The only place you will find success before work is in the dictionary. Train hard, and train well. "I do it because I can, I can because I want to, I want to because you said I couldn't"

Maybe Scooby should make a video for the Deadlift - good form or bad form?Strengthening your lower back is as important as strengthening your core muscles, because it is needed for a lot of excersises (especially when reaching a certain weight).

only if done wrong same about the mentioned compound exercises... by the way... transporting 2 heavy weight plates at the same time through the gym is more dangerous than any of these exercises.

yea moving even just a 40lb dumbbell across the gym for me gives me some trouble..
as for the back why risk it? just do back extensions...it's a smooth fairly continuous motion...you can do them weighted, even with a loaded barbell.

these exercises do a dynamic load to the back... with the mention compound exercises it is a static load and static loads dont harm the joints as bad as dynamic ones.
when you carry the weight, there will mostly be movement.
with the weights from the signature there shouldn't be any problems...

quite simple: no movement in the spinal cord, spinal cord straight, movement comes from the hip, don't forget breathing, use the highest range of motion that is allowed by your flexibility...

use the highest range of motion that is allowed by your flexibility... And do not round your lower back, always (!!!) keep it straight.
