Wrestlers, rugby players, grapplers, (american football? I've never played it lol) - quite a few sports require neck strength. Definitely the first two in that list!!
The only wrestlers I can think of that really have big necks are guys who have already broken them (like Kurt Angle) and were FORCED to strengthen their necks. Anyone knows if Arnold actually bothered to train his neck?

a video showing good exercises to work the neck muscles safely at home without buying a neck training harness
Sorry if it's already been suggested, but have you seen the exercise that MMA/Pankration fighter Bas Rutten does? Granted that man is hardly human, he has one of the most intense work out videos I've seen that targets fighters of all styles. One neck work out he outlines is where you lay flat on your back with your knees bent up as if you were doing sit ups, and with a towel folded up under the back of your head for padding and support, you slowly roll and arch your head back, bridging your body so only your planted feet and the crown of your head are making contact with the floor. I found these to be pretty damn difficult, but then again, I'm a broad shouldered 6'4" 260 and any exercises that rely on body weight have it out for me from the beginning. You can also "spot" yourself by pushing your feet firmly into the floor and using your quads to assist you in the movement, again, I can't stress enough how careful you need to be, this isn't the kind of exercise you want to overdo yourself on. I'm sure there are countless suggestions for other neck lifts, but this is just one that I'm sure hasn't been suggested yet.

the few times i've done neck exercises, i've done those. Even if you shrug often and/or heavy, you definitely still feel it the next day after doing a couple sets of those even with just a 5 pounder.

For years I've been lookin' for NECK TRAINING & I got no info. The wrestlers (pro & amateur) trained their neck but still, what the heck is the workout??? Some of 'em said that 1 of the training is the BRIDGE - Kurt Angle (an American Olympic gold medalist & pro wrestler) is 1 of 'em. What is a BRIDGE, actually??? So, neck video is a GOOD idea.

The bridge is what I explained a few posts ago: You start in that same basic position, but with just the balls of your feet and the ball of your neck/back of your head on the mat (SAVE YOURSELF A MIGRAINE AND DO THIS CUSHIONED) then with some moderate support of pushing your feet, roll your head back slowly just to where the top of your head is against the mat, as pictured. Sorry for having such an old picture as my reference, but in all of the new ones I saw, the idiots would end up on their foreheads, just asking for permanent spine and neck damage! Case in point and a perfect example of how to break your neck:

I say this is a bad idea! sorry. It just seems to me that its way too dangerous. The neck harness thingy picture showed earlier in this thread totally freaked me out. There may be safer ways to work out the neck, but it could go wrong, and someone could break their neck - because they watched a video of scooby. I dont think he wants that to happen. If a neck workout video will be made, I will definitely watch it, but i will continue to NOT exercise my neck.

the exercise might not even need a video, it's just like crunches for the neck from different sides.

neck workouts don't have to be dangerous, some gyms have the machine for it, our school does. those harnesses are questionable though if you overload it..ever see one of those? OMG, that is just wrong!!!!
