Hi All,

Here's the thing:
My wife wants to slim down her booty, but doing squats only makes it bigger. lol

And for myself, i would like to increase my Glutes (i almost have no Glutes at all, being very unatractive from behind), and squats just sore my Hamstrings and Quadriceps, doing nothing to the Glutes.

What do u guys suggest?

Lunges for glutes.
i prefer to do them weighted, but you can start em without weights.

When you say your wife wants to "slim" down her booty, I'm guessing she wants to lose some fat from her buttocks area. In that case, there is no such thing as targeted weight loss. You lose fat from wherever your body chooses to lose it from. She has to do cardio to lose that fat. And for you and your glutes, if you want to strengthen them you should do lunges they are great, also dead lifts and squats would help a lot as well.

I suggest she loses some weight, couples it with resistance training (which gives the body some firmness) and uses a sisal glove in the shower / bathtub, which will strengthen her connective tissue and make the skin tighter:

There's an exercise called "glute body raises" she could try.

You lay on your back with your knees bent (like you do for a crunch). Tighten the glutes and lift up your hips so your body is in a straight line from knees to shoulders. Still with glutes tightened, lower back down. Repeat.

For a more advanced version, put your feet up on a sturdy chair or bench (something that won't move).

This also gets the hamstrings!

just introduce her to good nutrition and cardio, problem solved Wink a good weight lifting routine or a routine that involves some sort of calisthenics will also keep the weight off, while adding some muscle. With muscle theirs so many good benefits and its easier to maintain your weight because you increase your caloric expenditure doing absolutely nothing.. When you speak to many women they fear looking too "bulky" which is almost never the case... A women's body cannot promote near the same amount of GH and testosterone that a man's body can,and it would take years of straight consistency to look anything near a figure competitor.

As for your glutes just work all around with different exercises that stimulate different types of growth, not all of your time spent towards one exercise like squats,try throwing some variety in with some leg presses,prone leg curls,lunges, and then your squats, but start out slow and listen to your body and what it tells you... no one else knows it better than you man! Wink

Here is a lazy one I do while driving.  Not sure the beefit yet as I only started a few weeks ago.

While your in a car flex your gluts hold for 10 seconds and release for 10 seconds.  Then reapeat.  I did this for 30 minutes on morning and man I had a hard time getting out of the car.  ANd rubbing my butt at work was well a little emberassing so be carefull.  Embarrassed

Be able to perform 20 clean pull-ups @ 2 second up 2 second down for 3 sets.

    It works extremely well if done consistantly (say totalling a few minutes each day) over a couple months. My mother taught me that one back when I was playing a lot of rugby (apparently it's a good exercise for horse riders) and christ it tightens up the old gluteus maximus when you want it to. You could bounce a coin off. Wink
