I'm a guy, but I was curious. Do pushups help girls to keep a firm bust or they just tone the muscles beneath?

Breast tissue is completely different than muscle. So any chest exercise will firm the muscle underneath... which can affect how the breasts look, depending on... er, volume.

Depressing as it may be for guys who only just realise - the woman's breast which most young people are used to are... well, basically LIES! Yes, as horrible as the topic is porn has warped the modern male AND female teenage mind to believe that breasts are symmetrical, full bodied and perky/upright, when this simply is not the case apart from an extremely small minority or [those which people tend to see] - surgically altered. (Don't be offended by this girls out there who read this) - but lower your expectations lads, cos as soon as you come to terms what real women's breasts are like, the sooner you'll get over that disappointment and start liking them the way they are. No, honestly this is a modern perception which is of great concern, because girls grow up thinking theirs look weird and guys grow up thinking that their girlfriend has odd breasts/etc. and it's pretty much all the media's fault as well as the big block called lack of communication where anything concerning sex or anatomy is concerned between parents/teachers-children/youngsters etc.

I agree 100% with what Ug said. The media/Hollywood has totally distorted what is real and normal when it comes to people's bodies (men and women).
I also agree 100% with what Drew said. <shudders>

Hey guys! I think that I was hoping that if push-ups do help girls have a firm bust, maybe we can encourage more girls to do them. I don't know a girl that is able to do a single push-up (except for Goldie of course) , even knee push-ups. However, they help the bust a little bit, don't they? Push-ups won't give girls what surgery would, but it would be an improvement.

I think push-ups are good for girls to do, but not to make their breast firmer. As Goldie already stated, breast tissue is mostly (or all) fat. So for females doing push ups, it will help develop their chest muscles, shoulder muscles, and triceps, just like it would for a guy, resulting in an overall more athletic looking physique. It might make their chest area look nicer by virtue of being more toned and athletic, but gaining muscles there will not result in increased breast size.

If need be, just tell them a white lie that it will make their breasts larger/firmer. The thing is, it will increase overall chest size in time (raw measurement) just not the cup size (e.g. 32C -> 34C)

Some women with larger breasts find that training the pectorals makes the upper part of their breasts fuller, others think in the long run it may push down the breasts as a whole. Women with smaller breasts find that it makes their breasts more prominent and gives them more cleavage.
So, should a woman train her chest? I'd say yes. If so, how should she go about it? It depends on the person.

So now I can go out and tell all girls that push-ups are great for their bust, and I won't be telling a lie right?
