Gym Pet Peeve of the day.

People who “reserve” scarce cardio equipment when they enter the gym by putting their towel or other personal otems on it then tgey leisurely go in the locker room and change into tgeir gym clothes. Folks, this is NOT cool. Today I saw this happen. Guy walks in the door and puts towel on the last open treadmill machine and heads to locker room. Poor Erin who is too nice to cause a fuss walks up seconds after Mr X walks away and has to wait 10min to get a treadmill. She could have completed half her workout while the rude Mr X was changing into his gym clothes.

Folks, dont be an equipment hog – you never know who might see you. Mr X, be grateful I didnt post your muugshot. I might just do it if I see you again.

Gyms are a *shared* community facility. If your time is TOO VALUABLE to waste waiting your fair turn in line then buy your own equipment and work out at home!

  1. I've got a similar pet peeve: people bringing their cell phones into the gym and setting them on benches and the seats of machines they're not using. They do this not to "reserve" the machines, but because they don't want to set their phones on the floor. Very bad gym etiquette.

  2. I've never seen anyone do this… but if anyone tried I'd just toss that towel away and complain to the staff.

  3. thats why i love 24 hour gyms and going to workout after midnight. no one is ever there except the old black guy benching 500 lbs and the white guy with the goatee on the treadmill for hours.

no waiting for equipment, benches, certain dumbbells, and trying to avoid annoying personal trainers who want to steal your money

i know this isn't reasonable for everyone. but i once had a life and a job where i had to go workout during peak hours like everyone else

  4. You should have moved his towel Scoob, and when he came back and asked who moved it you could have just stepped up and said "Me, why?" and watched him turn white! Grrr!

  5. I've never seen anyone do that nor would anyone would do that in my gym since someone else can just go to the treadmill and put their stuff on the ground and use it. And they do have the right to do so because I doubt hogging a machine is allowed.

  6. I've never seen this at the gym I go to but i'm more than polite with my gym etiquette. I'll gladly let somebody use the bench whilst i'm in between sets etc, it's just common courtesy!

  7. I just went to a resort in Jamaica and I loved it except for the @%$#&!^%$ who would get up in the morning for breakfast and on their way by the pool would put their towel on the chairs to hold them.I would go down to the pool to see the same [email protected]%$#@% towels sitting on empty chairs at 10AM and after lunch. They must bring their same rude gym habits with them on vacation.
