youtube user sixpackshortcuts suspended

  • by

I applaud YouTube and their recent decision to suspend the user sixpackshortcuts. The reason given by YouTube on his page is:

“This account has been suspended due to a violation of YouTube’s policy against spam, scams and commercially deceptive content”

On his facebook page, he indicates that he has no idea why YouTube suspended their account. Well, here are a few possibilities why his account was suspended/removed. Its titles like his latest hit video:

“Lose 30 lbs in 30 days”.
Ask 100 doctors what they think of the title of that video and they will all say that it’s dangerous and irresponsible. Weight loss that fast is dangerous and should only be done in very limited situations and then, only under a doctor’s supervision. About the most you can safely reduce your caloric intake is 20% below your TDEE and that will result in 1-2 pounds per week of fat loss, no more. THAT is the maximum safe fat loss rate, not the 7 pounds a week that sixpackshortcuts was promising. He is not a doctor, he is not personally monitoring the people doing his 30/30 diet – its just irresponsible. Then take his video titled:
“Build a huge chest fast”

(or something similar), thats about as deceptive a claim as there is. Gaining muscle is a very slow process, period. It takes 3-7 years to develop anything that anyone would consider to be a “huge chest” and that certainly doesnt qualify as “build a huge chest fast”. The only way to build a “huge chest fast” requires the use of illegal drugs.
The other possibility why the account was suspended was for the thumbnails used. I notice there are a number of images used that are not only copyright violations but are unrelated to the videos content..
Again, I applaud YouTube and Google for suspending sixpackshortcuts account and I hope this will be a wake up call to other people who use ridiculous claims to sell their expensive eBooks, website subscriptions, and newsletters.

If you want to learn how to lose weight or gain muscle without spending a dime, please visit my free website, ScoobysHomeWorkouts.com. I dont make any ridiculous claims, I tell it like it is, and I dont recommend you buy anything except a used set of weights from craigslist and a pullup bar.

  1. I signed up to this stupid website just so that I may comment on this unfair post. The person writing this article sounds like he never tried Sixpack shortcuts for himself. It sounds like he prejudged the program and attacked it with the theme of pure hatred and ignorance guiding him. 3 – 7 years to develop a big chest? Bullshit it takes about 1 to 2 years to get a fair decent size on your chest. I know this because, eating correctly after any muscle building exercise will give you the nutrition needed to rebuild your muscles in a bigger way. thats provided you get a good nights sleep that allows your body to rebuild your muscle tissue while adding on more muscle fibers. It adds fibers because your chest needs to adapt to the intense workout you just did. so in turn everytime an exercise gets easier its because you’ve built up the muscle to help assist you better. I learned all of that through mikes free YouTube video’s. I practiced it myself, and gained results from training in the mike change way. I’ll admit, some of the video titles are a bit click-baitish but once you start watching the video he breaks down what you procedurally need to do to get those results. I went through depressing and went from 220 to 273, I got motivate after sometime, to start taking care of myself and on my own, I went down to 250 and then I got stuck. I ran across mike’s channel and started listening to his advice. What motivated me so much, is that he didn’t just tell you to do the workout, but he actually did them himself from start to finish. That motivated me to start getting serious and every week I found myself saying, “I’m not loosing to Mike this week” and so I kept it up and cause of mike I went from 250 to an incredible 205. I was even 195 but I wanted to weigh a little more. All I can say I that mikes advice is priceless and I honestly only watched his YouTube vids and never bought his products. The reason people fail isn’t because of mike, they fail because they lack the self motivation and self discipline. two things that take skill to make a consistent part of your life. Mike is only an instrument of motivation that you can either choose or not choose, but I learned the hard way that your body is your responsibility. Mike helped get me here so I feel I needed to represent him. So take it from a person who actually tested out mikes methods instead of writing him off before even doing one burpy. P.s. Its a little too convenient to rag on someone else’s product just to promote your own.

  3. The real source of any legit weight-training advice is evidence-based science, not necessarily Scooby or Mike. Their marketing programs are competitive, and it’s good it’s that way, plain and simple. Some people like ketchup, some like mustard. Some like both, like myself. So let’s remember why we are training hard and get back to our goals- you got one life.

  4. build a huge chest fast… exuuuse me i was able to get a huge chest using mikes workouts in like 2 weeks no pills no cheating just workouts

  5. If you think either Scooby or Mike are as natural as they lead you to believe then you’ve been duped. Scooby gives bad advice and gets off on attention. Show me one natural lifter who gets big with Scooby’s chest flys and bike cycling workout Maybe he doesn’t want the money but hey, he’s got a reputation. Mike gets paid to do the same exact thing, and again. Show me a natural lifter who gets big with pushups and crunches.

  6. I love Scooby and Mike, for me well, I know Mike is in the “give me more money” side of things but I just will not pay for his system,

instead I just watch his really really really awesome and super super motivating videos, honestly he is the best for motivating you, at least for me, and I have improved my cardio capacity a huge lot thanks to his sytem, but I admire scooby because he is more honest because he is not saling, but yes, Mike should keep down some of his calims but still I have to tell you I needed motivation and a different system for improving my cardio and he made the magic trick for me I wasn’t able to even run 100 meters without vomititng I hated aerobics and thanks to his free videos in yt I finnaly found a way to do cardio in a acceptably enjoyable way,

anyway I love anyone who uploads helping videos to youtube you all rock!!!!

and now am capable of playing a friendly football macth quite acceptably thanks to Mike cardio system

  7. I was 230 pounds two years ago. For one month I did an intense workout almost everyday. Not gym, or weights – just using my own bodyweight and dedication. I did it once everyday for 9 minutes until I could barely keep consciousness. I lost 40 pounds in one month and was super fit.

  8. Guys, thanks a lot for pointing out to scooby…I am happy to explore! Although with every guy selling tips and techniques there are different things to learn, I believe same things come across in traditional workouts sooner or later. Thanks again!

  9. Build a huge chest fast isn’t that bad… cause fast is relative. Folks may know they won’t get a big chest tomorrow… but fast for them would mean… in the realm of possibilities. But perhaps your right, people aint’ thinking about that. The other one is expressly misleading though.

  10. I think you are all mistaken
Mike Chang has a very nice channel and Scooby is just being wary. Though I don’t think it is fair for Scooby to “applaud” youtube for suspending Mike Chang.
What would happen if youtube suspended Scooby for something? He also almost challenges Mike by making spoof videos and saying “There are no shortcuts for abs”
Scooby doesn’t like Mike at all

  11. I hate Mike Chang solely for the fact that he has a website that trying to sell you a $97 “package of scam”. He disguised himself as a nice “informative” trainer on youtube and give you these “free” -useless-as *&^% abs exercise videos for you to follow until you get frustrated enough to buy his $97 package.

  12. I hope Mike Chang dies, seriously. I’m sick of seeing this douchebag everywhere I go on the internet.

  13. In my opinion the only difference between Scooby’s Workouts and Mike Chang and I’ll throw in P90X and Insanity is packaging. Scooby does not get paid and the rest make bank because of marketing. But if you look at the workouts they are basically the same rearranged in different manner. I’ve lost 25 lbs. and build muscles with P90X, I’m doing the Mike Chang workout (did not pay $97.00 though :)), and look at Scooby’s Videos for form. Is it a scam? Yes. Are the exercise legitimate? Yes. Are the claims stupid? Yes. But as with everything be the mature one and decide for yourself. I’m sure if Scooby decides to monetize his tips other people will hate him for that too.

  14. You have to be wary of anybody selling you something. This guy is out to make money above all else. The pictures he has aren’t even him. I watched one of his videos and he said that he ate pizza and drank beer  sometimes because he was so fit that it wouldn’t matter in small quantities. While partially true, this is not what you tell people trying to lose weight. Scooby doesn’t sell anything, and he gets money from Youtube in compensation for his time.

  15. Sedrick Bowfinger

Personally, I hate the channel because they post their ads or appear in “related videos” on anything i search for. I’ve gotten friend invites from them repeatedly. It is nothing but an empty, relentless infomercial full of misinformation, an sensationalist content.

  16. I just think that Mike Chan was a guy who made a living out of being a professional trainer, then suddendly decided to market himself a bit more aggressively. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, after all business is mainly based on “how it looks” and “how it gets marketed”, often leaving the quality left to be desired (i know because i have one), and again he isn’t lying but just embelishing the truth.

I have tried some of Mike’s Exercises on youtube and to be honest, they gave me ideas to experiment a bit more with my own workouts, to keep my body guessing.

But i think that Scooby is under appreciated. I have watched most of his video’s and i like the fact that i am looking at a guy who never took steroids, who has been training for the past 30 years and shares his knowledge and experience in a common everyday guy manner.

This is what i would consider a mentor to be, a person who walked the path and not necessarly knows it. The first time i saw Scooby, i just became hooked because he does indeed look like a guy who’s been lifting and dieting for ages, and explaining what he does is second nature to him.

He doesn’t look like a guy who’s there to make a buck, but rather a passionate man, who’s just crazy about exercising. And if he does make money in the meantime, i wouldn’t care because i know that i am getting some high quality facts which after all came from his years of hard training.

    Long live Scooby!

  17. lol? you are against him because he is popular and gives videos for free? you can’t compete against Asians

  18. scooby is the best dude on youtube..he tells it how it is..im annoyed that mikes videos they all are a sales pitch..and alot of them are intermediate to advanced techniques…which are dangerous for beginers and older ppl…scooby always explains the health and safety issues brilliantly…unless you have had a back injury at the gym u wont realise the shocking pain…also on mikes sales pitch about the 100 first ppl to sign up i swear i heard one of the testimony’s of his clients say he put on 30 pounds of muscle mass in 12 weeks…????? 12 weeks?????

  19. I fucking hate this guy – his stupid video thumbnails have been all over my webpages lately (as “google ads”) and everytime I check into youtube, he’s there on the right above all the other vidoes relevant to my search with his stupid grin, trimmed abs and ridiculous shades.
Get out of my web, idiot!

  20. Well, the suspension didn’t last very long. I like many of Mike’s videos, but whoever’s marketing his stuff reeks of spammer/scammer. Try a google search on his program and all you get is hundreds of domains/pages that clearly only exist to promote the program.

Thank goodness there are folks like Scooby out there to counter this crap.

  21. I agree with many of your points here, but i think some credit should still go to Mike from sixpackshortcuts for showing simple, safe, and useful workout techniques. I used many of the workouts shown in his videos, and found them to be very effective for working the muscles they targeted and burning calories. In fact i defenitely did begin to develop a lot more ab definition while using some of these exercises, so i think he still deserves some credit for delivering about what his channel promised

  22. @Henwerg Are you fucking serious? Scooby is awesome! He tells it like it is, and he gives FREE resources without charging ridiculous prices, go back to sixpackshortcut scrub, and be a dumbass and pay 97$ for utterly bullshit information that won’t get you anywhere.

  23. old blog, but I'm going to post anyways. Dan whoever you are, if you or Mike are actually ISSA certified you would know 1-2, maybe at most 3lbs of fat is safe to lose per week. Even if you're obese losing 30lbs of fat within a month is dangerous. I haven't even been BCRPA registered, and I have this knowledge.

  24. Hi Scooby,

This is Dan from Six Pack Shortcuts. I got a youtube message from one of our viewers letting me know about this blog post…and I wanted to respond here real quick.

First off, yes we are back on YouTube. This is because over 500 people emailed in to YouTube asking for us back, and many more left comments on youtube or helped get us back in some other way.

I haven't heard this from YouTube, but I suspect the reason why we were suspended was that they misunderstood what we meant by "shortcuts" or "doing xyz FAST." As I think that you also have in this post.

In the "Lose 30 lbs in 30 days" video, the entire point of the video was to show that almost everyone CANNOT lose 30 lbs in 30 days. The people who do that are usually extremely overfat to begin with — those people can lose 30 lbs in 30 days, but anyone who is not extremely obese to begin with should lose fat at a much slower rate. So it sucks that everyone is saying that we were scamming people into believing they could lose 30 lbs in 30 days…when in fact, then video was promoting the exact OPPOSITE idea.

Same thing goes for when we say "build muscle fast" or "lose fat fast" or whatever. What we mean — and this is apparent if you watch our videos — is to GAIN MUSCLE OR LOSE FAT THE FASTEST WAY THAT'S ACTUALLY POSSIBLE AND SAFE. We don't mean that you can gain 30 lbs of muscle with no workouts or diet, or anything like that.

There are many REAL shortcuts to getting in shape that Mike has showed me. For example, he showed me that too much of my routine consisted of isolation exercises (curls, calf raises, etc.) and that not enough of it consisted of compound exercises (dead lifts, bench press, etc.). By changing my routine to the SPS protocol he recommended I was able to gain 10 lbs, almost all muscle within 3 months — more than I'd been able to in the previous YEAR. So this is what we mean by the real shortcuts to gaining muscle and losing fat — doing things in a better informed, more efficient way to get faster results without sacrificing your health or safety.

Anyways scooby, I definitely encourage you to watch the videos in-depth and not just read the headlines…and I think you will see that we are supporting REAL workouts, and REAL nutrition as the way to get in shape.

BTW you were the first fitness guy I started following on youtube…love your vids, and they inspired Mike and I to get started. So I'd definitely appreciate if you gave our videos a second look, I think you will see that you got the wrong first impression.

  25. Sixpackshortcuts is very similar to Vince Delmonte actually, they make ridiculous claims about fat loss and muscle gain, i also hate it when people use misleading thumbnails too. i remember the user ''Standfirm'' on youtube used to use erotic pictures of women as thumbnails to get views on female weight loss, he also used to use photo-retouched images of steroid using bodybuilders as thumbnails for muscle gain. back to Vince Delmonte, he claimed that you could pack on 20 pounds of muscle in 1 month, I AM NOT LYING, i thought that was ridiculous.

  26. Definitely agreed with Scooby. I mean they have some good exercises shown there, but some of the claims they make is just ridiculous.

& Yes Scooby, Vince DelMonte is one funny guy.

  27. I don't know what you are talking about Scooby. Usually I agree with most of the things you say, but not this one. Those guys are doing nothing wrong. They have good workout and tip videos on how to get in shape, and they are all free on youtube. I have never seen them in any of their videos trying to shove their products or things they are selling down their viewers' throats. They are many shady people on youtube who are doing the things you mentioned, but definitely not these guys! I don't think they deserve this blog. Maybe you haven't seen their videos in depth. You can't just go by titles, you know!

  28. Yes sixpackshortcuts is back up, it makes me very sad. People like sixpackshortcuts are the reason that I started my free website and free videos 7 years ago – to show people how to get in awesome shape without spending any money. Corporate america and their marketing machine had people brainwashed that you had to spend money to get ripped muscles. Just when I thought I was making some progress at reversing this horrid trend, along comes Vince DelMonte, then sixpackshortcus and it starts all over again :(

  29. What a big deal with this guy? If you want buy 97$ book is Your free choise. If you want to learn the same or more for free visit page like this.

On the other hand i don't like this guy and his video beacuse he… don't have a hat! ;)

  30. @Scooby yes, this is what I mean, I don't like their (sixpackshortcuts) behaviour (e.g. advertisments in the videos or selling way too expensive e-books).

And for your titles, as I said I wouldn't offend you, because the content of the videos is good. I wanted to point out, that you not always can judge videos "only" by their title.

  31. @Mangu About my video titles. First, one hugh difference. I am not using videos as a platform to SELL a $97 eBook, I promote home workouts and discourage the purchase of *anything*.

"Gain Muscle FAST" – This was a parody of the ridiculous claims made on YouTube and explanation WHY there is no such thing as gaining muscle fast.

"Get 19% stronger in one day" With summer coming on, this is my little Public Service Announcement (PSA) to plug hydrating properly to avoid dangerous dehydration and death as happens every summer. Medical professionals applaud my push for hydration. The claim made in the title is backed up by solid research which I list in the video.

  32. Whenever I see someone who wants to work out, the first thing I do is suggest him to check out your website, and insist that you are all "No cost ( or very little), no bull".

Thanks for being who you are, you really help a lot of people and you help them achieve their goals in a realistic way.

  33. @ Giant_Rick, it appears he has re-uploaded all his videos. Thats not the user who was shut down. That user was "sixpackshortcuts"

  34. @Mangu, I weigh more than a couple of hundred pounds – 240 to be exact. Even at my weight, with 20% below the TDEE it barely comes to 2lbs weight loss a week, a far cry from 7 pounds a week.

  35. I won't offend you, but the title of the video not always says something about the content. You also have some catchy titles like "Get 19% Stronger in 1 Day!", "Gain Muscle FAST!", or "3 Minute Abs".

sixpackshortcuts explained in the "Lose 30 lbs in 30 days" video that only people with a couple hundred pounds are likely able to lose that much weight that fast.

Nevertheless, I also don't like sixpackshortcuts, but rather because of their behaviour than wrong statements.

  36. The thing I like about you is that you're funny, and you know what you're talking about. You also seem like a genuinely nice guy! Keep making videos, :D!

  37. I came across that character before while web-surfing. I thought "I wonder what scooby would say to or about this guy". I didn't know you knew about him lol what a joke. "Six Pack Short Cuts" makes me laugh, any one who got abs or tried knows that the only short cut you have to getting abs is starting sooner than later.

  38. Amen to that Scooby, that channels claims were ridiculous, particularly advocating "eating whatever you want", and "forget about doing cardio". lol, I don't see any way to lose 30 lbs. in 30 days without mass amounts of cardio or dying.
